Choosing the right service

Which facial should I book?

New client / not sure what you need? Book 90 Minute Consult + Facial — this is the best starting point so I can fully assess your skin and customize everything.

How many treatments will I need to see results?

Most clients notice an immediate difference (smoother, more hydrated, glow). Corrective changes (acne, texture, pigment) build over time with consistency and a plan. After I assess your skin, I’ll recommend realistic timing and frequency.

Before your appointment

Should I arrive with makeup on or off?

If you can come with minimal/no makeup, that’s ideal, but not required. I’ll thoroughly cleanse your skin when you arrive either way.

Do I need to stop retinol, exfoliants, or acids before my facial?

Usually, yes. To keep your skin calm and prevent sensitivity, pause retinoids/retinol and exfoliating acids for a few days before your appointment (longer if you’re easily sensitized). If you’re not sure what counts as an “active,” message me and I’ll help.

Should I avoid sun exposure or tanning before my appointment?

Yes, please. Avoid intense sun, tanning, or a fresh sunburn for several days beforehand. Skin that’s sun-stressed is more reactive and can limit what we can safely do.

Can I come in if my skin is dry, peeling, or irritated?

Yes, and please tell me! Dryness, peeling, and stinging are often signs your barrier needs support. We can absolutely modify your treatment to focus on calming + repairing.

Can I still get a facial if I’m actively breaking out?

Absolutely!  Breakouts are one of the most common reasons clients come in. I’ll customize your facial to reduce inflammation, support healing, and protect your barrier.

Do I need to bring anything with me to my appointment?

If possible, bring a list (or photos) of your current skincare products, hair products, and any supplements/medications you’re taking. This helps me fully customize your treatment and aftercare.

Should I remove my jewelry before my appointment?

Not required, but that would be very helpful! Removing necklaces and earrings beforehand makes your facial smoother and more comfortable, especially through the neck and décolleté area.

Medications + health considerations

Can I get a facial if I’m using tretinoin or prescription acne treatments?

Often yes, we just customize. Prescription topicals can increase sensitivity, so I may adjust exfoliation, extractions, and active ingredients. Please tell me what you’re using and how often so I can keep your skin safe.

Can I get a facial if I’ve used Accutane (isotretinoin)?

This depends on timing. Accutane significantly changes how the skin heals, so certain treatments may not be appropriate for a period of time. Let me know when you last used it and we’ll choose the safest option.

Can I get a facial if I’m pregnant or breastfeeding?

Yes, with modifications. I’ll keep everything pregnancy-safe and avoid ingredients/treatments that aren’t recommended. If you’re ever unsure, check with your provider and feel free to message me.

Can I get a facial if I have eczema, rosacea, or very sensitive skin?

Yes, I work with sensitive and reactive skin often. We’ll focus on barrier support, calming inflammation, and using gentle, strategic ingredients.

Can I get a facial if I have an active cold sore or open lesion?

If you have an active cold sore or any open/suspicious lesion in the treatment area, we’ll need to reschedule. This is for your safety and to prevent spreading/irritating the area.

Can I get a facial if I’m sick or running a fever?

Please reschedule. I want you to rest and recover — and it helps protect both of us.

Other treatments + timing

How long should I wait after Botox or filler before a facial?

As a general rule, you must wait 2 weeks after injectables before booking a facial and avoid deep massage around freshly treated areas. If you’re unsure, tell me your date and we’ll time it correctly.

How long should I wait after laser, microneedling, or a chemical peel?

It depends on the treatment and how your skin is healing. Some services require extra time before we use exfoliation or active ingredients again. Send me the treatment type + date and I’ll guide you.

Can I get dermaplaning if I’m using retinoids or acne products?

Sometimes, yes, but we’ll decide based on your skin’s sensitivity that week. If your barrier is compromised or you’re actively peeling, I may recommend skipping dermaplaning and focusing on repair first.

How long should I wait after waxing, threading, or using hair removal creams?

Give your skin a little breathing room. Typically, wait a few days before and after your facial (especially if exfoliation is involved) to avoid irritation.

What to expect during the facial

What happens during a customized facial?

You’ll start with a skin check-in, then I tailor your treatment in real time. Most facials include a deep cleanse, targeted exfoliation (as appropriate), extractions if needed, treatment serums, mask therapy, and finishing products with aftercare guidance.

Will there be extractions? Are they always included?

Extractions are based on what your skin needs that day, not done just to do them. If your skin is inflamed or sensitized, I may skip them or keep them minimal to protect your barrier.

Will my skin be red after? Is there downtime?

Most clients leave with my signature glass-skin glow, hydrated, and calm. Mild redness can happen (especially if we do extractions), but it usually settles quickly. If you’re booking before an event, see the timing recommendation below.

Are your treatments safe for all skin tones?

Yes! My approach is barrier-first and results-driven, and I choose techniques and ingredients that are safe and appropriate for all skin tones.

Aftercare + planning ahead

Can I wear makeup after my facial?

It’s best to let your skin breathe the rest of the day, however if you need to wear makeup, keep it light and choose non-comedogenic products.

Can I work out the same day?

I recommend waiting until the next day if you can. Heat and sweat right after a treatment can increase redness or irritation!

When can I restart active products (retinol/acids)?

Typically 2–5 days, depending on what we did and how your skin feels. I’ll tell you exactly when to restart based on your treatment and sensitivity level.

How soon will I see results?

You’ll usually notice immediate glow, smoother texture, and better hydration. Corrective results (acne, congestion, pigment) build with consistency — and with the right home routine.

When should I book if I have a wedding/event/photos coming up?

For your best glow, book 7–14 days before your event. That gives your skin time to fully settle and look its smoothest. If you’re acne-prone or trying something new, earlier is even better. Depending on your skin goals, even 6-12 months in advance before your event.

How often should I get facials?

For maintenance and long-term glow: every 4–6 weeks is ideal. If we’re correcting something specific (acne/congestion/pigment/texture), we may start more frequently and then taper. We will set you up with a custom treatment plan/realistic timeline.
